Music: Count Us In

On Thursday 1 Nov - we had all 500 students participate in the Music: Count Us In event, and the song "Different People".   It was awesome.   500 students SMILING and enjoying music.    100 students from inclusive of all grades played percussion, glockenspiels and ukuleles while a massive choir of 400 sang and danced.  The Grade Five rock band played the song.(Unfortuantely our Grade 3s were on camp.  But I pre-recorded them and will edit them into the video.)We also entertained our audience…See More

Term 2 MuFu

Had another great term.  5-6 students had a choice from 6 songs (three or four chords in regular patterns).  We had our Term 2 MuFu concert on the second last day of term and EVERY grade five & student was on stage performing to a large audience.  I was so excited.  Even students who threatened to stay home or be sick (because they were so nervous) were up there singing/playing.  And they got a huge applause after every song.  A massive step for many students.  AND even better...other…See More

Assessment using iPad

Posted on December 27, 2011 at 17:39 2 Comments

Does anyone use an iPad for assessment?  or Macbook?

Any good apps to keep track?  or how you do it?

Interested to hear what other teachers use to support their assessment.

I'd like to use an iPad - small and easy to carry around.

(I have 400 students - - but only grades 5 & 6 are doing M.F. at moment: about 200 students)

Welcome Chris! I hope that as we start our music teaching in 2011 this site can become a great resource for all of the music teachers who have signed up. I hope for this to become a place where we can blog about out thoughts with regard to music and music education, a source for advice and answers and a place to ask questions and post video of what we are doing. I look forward to hearing from you in the coming weeks and months. Regards, Ben.

Hey Chris, are you coming to the Musical Futures training days at Trafalgar next Thursday and Friday? If so, you should get in contact with Ken at Soundhouse ASAP this week.

Hope to see you there! Ben.
